Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Join Alice on her exciting adventures in Wonderland, where she changes size continually and meets a host of strange characters – the White Rabbit who is always late, the grinning Cheshire Cat and the Queen who wants to cut off everybody’s head – to name but a few!
Hello, my name is Lewis Carroll. Well, my real name is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson but when I write my stories I prefer Carroll, the Latin of Charles. What about Lewis?... Well, that comes from Lutwidge, my mother’s surname.

I was born in 1832 in a village called Daresbury in Cheshire. I have got eleven brothers and sister. My father’s name is Charles Dodgson and my mother’s name is Jane Lutwidge. As a child, I loved mathematics and games and writing, too. I wrote magazines for my brothers and sisters. In 1846, I went to secondary school to Rugby where I won prizes in Classics, Divinity and Mathematics. When I was nineteen I went to Oxford. I became a teacher at Christ Church at the age of twenty-one. I gave maths lessons and wrote about local political matters.

My most famous book is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This is a story I told to Alice Liddell and her two sisters (the daughters of my friend Henry Liddell) when we went on a boating trip in 1862. Apart from children’s stories, I like taking pictures of my child friends.
