Dry ice has no water content at all. It is frozen carbon dioxide at a temperature of -78.5 Celsius. It’s colourless, odourless and slightly acidic. It does not assist combustion at all.
When dry ice is placed near a burning candle, white smoke will appear and the candle light will die out. This is because the white smoke is mainly carbon dioxide gas which does not help combustion. That’s why most fire extinguishers contain carbon dioxide gas.
